The Music Inn produced and presented America's greatest jazz, folk and hippie music performances, love it a lot and I am so grateful this web site is here for us, I plan to enjoy your collection a lot more til the day I tip over.
Thanks P.T. - So many of us agree with that sentiment!

I live at White Pines, where Music Inn used to stand. I'm very interested in the history of this place.

Back in 1969 - 1974 I was a young camper at a sleep away camp called Mac Kee Nac. It's still in business I believe. I remember the camp used to take us to concerts at the Music Inn which was out of the camps driveway then make a right or to Tanglewood out the driveway make a left. My first ever concert I can remember was the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band at the Music Inn. We were a bunch of young kids dancin' around in a circle with the "freaks". I'm guessing this was 70' or 71'. The other time was the Mahavishnu Orchestra in 73'. I can't remember much about the place other than field was quite rocky, more dirt than grass. FWIW I remember seeing Roberta Flack with Blood, Sweat & Tears opening for her at Tanglewood if that helps in anyway with the timeline. I hope you can one day come up with a complete concert list of all the acts through the years. I scanned the 70's pictues looking for the Dirt Band but there wasn't any. I remember there wasn't that big a crowd for the Dirt Band that day (It was a daytime show). Take care.

Dear folks, this is old Music Inn fan, Dick Johnson.
I see you are scheduling another Music Inn reunion. The last one was outstanding.
The Pittsfield Boys Club is presenting a big concert on the same Sunday, September 9 as your show. There show is called "The Legends of The Lighthouse", which was a nightclub at the Boys Club in Pittsfield from 1965 to about 1975. 6 great old local bands like the Quarrymen, Potter Mountain Road Band, etc. are performing.
What time is your concert? If it is at night, that would be OK, because there's is from 1-6pm.
At any rate, I hope the 2 concerts do not directly conflict.
Bye now, Doc Johnson.

I remember the Music Inn well, even though I never attended a concert there. I was a camper at Merrywood Music School in the mid-70s and could hear the music through the woods as I pursued my oboe studies. So many of the musicians who inspired my subsequent career as an electric bass player played on your stage, but the closest I got was Toad Hall on camp excursions to see movies. It's great to see this site!
However, this day of discovery is bittersweet as I found your site while looking to see if I could find any information on the Band concert that I heard through the woods after discovering that Levon is now in the end stage of his cancer.
Please keep me posted.

In "The Crowd" photo by Lee Everett on History page, I am standing next to the black woman. I am the one with the braids. I was 17 years old at a Jimmy Cliff concert.
I loved Music Inn. I was never happier.
Thanks for the blast from the past!

Hi,
There may be some magic happening here. My go-to guy for trinkets from long ago shows called me today. This is before I could get in touch w/him. He is going to look through his collection and see what he can come up with. He lives in the Virgin Islands on St. Croix and was a part of our crew that did not miss many concerts @ the Music Inn in the '70s.
I will contact you when I hear back from him. I'm sure Dave doesn't remember me but I remember Dave. He did it all there. I met him in the barn at one of shows and again in the field directing traffic!!! I also would love to attend any reunions or fundraisers and I am sure my Music Inn friends would be very interested as well. Please keep me posted.
You are doing a fantastic job with your website Your efforts will be greatly appreciated by the many, many people that had the pleasure of coming together to enjoy the natural beauty, the artistry, and the friendships not yet made.

I am a Bob Marley and the Wailers historian and media archivist. I write a blog titled "The Midnight Raver". My latest entry is about the legendary show at the Music Inn on June 18, 1978. I include a bunch of background information on the Music Inn, and personal testimony from a photographer who snapped the now famous shots of Marley that day. I think it would be a good addition to your archive. http://wp.me/p1Uqgl-3m Bless!
